2. Plein Air in Olney

Plein Air Olney 2011 is a painting event that the Olney Farmers & Artists Market has sponsored since its origin in the summer of 2009.  Tara S. Holl and Roberta Staat are the founders of this event.  Any questions about Plein Air Olney 2011? Contact:  Tara S. Holl, mailto:tshstudios@juno.com or Roberta Staat,  rmstaat@verizon.net

Painting “en Plein Air”, means to paint out of doors, in the moment, with the changing light conditions and without photographic reference.  It is exciting and challenging for the artists, who in turn, produce very fresh and dynamic works of art!  Additionally as an outdoor event,  it engages the community, provides a wonderful creative record of community sites, celebrates artists, and promotes interest and goodwill for all!

This year the PLEIN AIR OLNEY 2011 CALENDAR includes 5 Paint Outs in Olney and surrounding towns: Ashton, Sandy Spring, Brookeville, Laytonsville and Olney.  Each Paint Out will conclude with a Wet Paint Show/Sale and Public Reception.  The reception will be a great time to see what artists have done during the day, eat a little something and meet patrons.  Painters of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate.
