Event Description
Nationwide storyteller and fellow WCA Member Ellouise Schoettler will give a presentation entitled "Pushing Boundaries" about women's stories. WCA/DC members and guests will have an opportunity to share their art and "the stories behind them."
Directions

By car, from 495, take Exit 31B, Georgia Ave (Rte 97)

south through downtown Silver Spring. After you go

under the underpass, the first light will be East-West

Hwy. Take the first right (King St.) after the light to free

surface parking. If this is full, cross Georgia Ave, turn

right on Burlington (East-West Hwy), then right on

Fenton St.

Take the first right onto King St. Enter the free parking

garage on the left at the end of the block. To cross over

the Metro tracks to get to the Arts Center, walk from the

parking garage onto Fenton St. and turn right. Just past

the storage building you will find the walkway taking

you over the tracks.

By Metro, take the Red Line train to Silver Spring

station, then transfer to Ride On Bus Route 18 or 70 (check

schedule online). Or you can walk it is a 15-20 minute

walk, south on Georgia Ave.

This spring, the Corcoran Gallery of Art will present Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes—a dramatic installation of major new works by this renowned contemporary artist and architect.   On view from March 14 through July 12, the exhibitionaddresses contemporary ideas about landscape and geologic phenomena.  Lin’s second nationally-traveling exhibition in 10 years, Systematic Landscapes explores how people perceive and experience the landscape in a time of heightened technological influence and environmental awareness.

WCA Lifetime Achievement Awards - 30th Anniversary!

The WCA Lifetime Achievement Awards, inaugurated in 1978 under the organizing influence of Joan Mondale, recognizes the contributions of women to the study, practice and administration of art.  WCA’s Lifetime Achievement Awards were first awarded in 1979 in President Jimmy Carter’s Oval Office to Isabel Bishop, Selma Burke, Alice Neel, Louise Nevelson, and Georgia O'Keeffe. For many of the awardees, the WCA is the most significant recognition of their achievements.  The awards are always an inspiring and moving experience.
