My art, like a garden is about attending to the senses, creating an emotional response to aesthetic stimulation. In the tradition of mosaics I employ a contemporary twist, incorporating stone, minerals, wood and glass.

The catalyst for the "conversation" of the artwork can be as simple as a stone from a river in Italy or the magic of minerals with their shapes being defined by light's reflection. The work grows organically, solely relying on the relationship between each piece of tesserae.

Educated at Emerson College and Brandeis University Carol studied theatrical design. In the 1970's her energies were devoted to creating costumes for the performing arts in NYC. 1983-2010 Carol owned the well-regarded Carol Studios Inc, an interior designer’s workroom. Carol has studied at prestigious studios in Italy, developing a unique and singular voice using natural materials. 2013-2020 she was in residence at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
