Opening reception Friday, November 3, 6-8PM
One House is a collaboration of 220 artists, each of whom has contributed a 12" square panel telling the story of an ancestor of theirs who came to this country.. The common thread is that so many fled persecution, poverty and physical threat and found a refuge and hope in the U.S.
A large structure has been built and covered entirely with the panels. It has great emotional power, visually symbolizing the strength that comes to this country from the diversity of its people. A video of many of the artists telling their stories will be screened alongside the house.
“One House” will be exhibited from November 3 - 25 at the Touchstone Gallery at 901 New York Ave. NW Ave. Washington, DC.
