About the Event
Chapter President Sarah Ernst welcomes ALL to the Fredericksburg Area Museum on Saturday, August 24, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to provide a very special tour of the museum, and lead a strategic planning session (this includes a review of our current by-laws and planning for 2025). Bring a dish to pass, and we will also and enjoy a little potluck!
Sarah is the Exhibits Curator for the museum, which is housed in an historic Town Hall / Market House, and dates back to around 1816. The vision of the museum is:
"To serve our diverse community and its neighbors through a commitment to inclusion, integrity, credibility, and relevance. We will be an institution that facilitates the recognition and understanding of the region’s nation-shaping history through exploration of our past, illumination of the present, and envisioning of the future."
Sarah will also walk us thorugh a special exhibit that she just launched: Out and About: The Walk in Closet . This incredible exhibit covers 4,000 years of global LGBTQ+ history with a focus on 200 years of that history in the Fredericksburg region!
Additionally, a few blocks away is the LibertyTown Arts Workshop, which houses her studio and many other artist's from the Fredericksburg community. If you have time to stay, join us for an inspiring tour of the studios from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Bring a friend who is not a current member!
