WCA 2020 Conference, Chicago, IL

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

Our Membership Chairman, Sandra Davis was elected to the WCA national board! Bravo Sandra! She will be involved in the planning of the 2022 conference in Chicago, with is the 50th anniversary of Women’s Caucus for Art!

Sandra and Holly Stone were the hardy Washingtonians who represented WCADC at this year’s national conference in Chicago. The theme was “Intersectionality”, with numerous interesting panels and two WCA member shows. Braving temps as low as 1-degree Fahrenheit, the two independently toured public sculptures in snow-covered Grant Park, and visited the Art Institute of Chicago and The Museum of Contemporary Art. It was wonderful to meet other artists who are women from different areas of the US.

As always, the Lifetime Achievement Awards was a highlight:

And importantly, WCADC’s Linda Lowery’s encaustic 16” x 16” on birch panel, “Smile” was selected for the national WCA show, “Collectively Shifting.”

And WCADC member Bonnie MacAllister was in both WCA national conference shows, "Intersectional History," at the Woman Made Gallery and "Collectively Shifting," at the Bridgeport Art Center. The title of this piece is "Resilience."
