In this challenging time, many artists struggle to continue creating and to make a living. As a result, U.K. artist Matthew Burrows started #artistsupportpledge. The idea is simple: post on Instagram images of art you are willing to sell for $200 (not including shipping). Once you have sold $1,000 worth of those works, buy another artist’s work for $200. Artists participating are encouraged to add #artistsupportpledge to their posts.
If your work is not suitable for this challenge due to cost or other factors, consider making some pieces that would allow you to participate. If that is not an option, look at postings under #artistsupportpledge to see if anything resonates for you. If so, support a fellow artist by buying it if you are in a position to do so. If you are not able to support the #artistsupportpledge, follow it on Instagram and like posts of artists you want to support. You may discover some new work that inspires you. No matter how you participate, it will be an act of generosity and kindness when we all need more of both.
