Megan King is a Washington, DC based encaustic artist. Megan believes that beauty can be found in the most mundane places. It is the everyday objects, the things that most people overlook and discard that tell the best stories. The intersection between the natural and man-made environments dominate her work. Megan is particularly fascinated by and interested in talking about cultural impacts on the natural world and vice versa. She is an avid mudlarker and world-comber, picking up artifacts in waterways and along life’s path. These items inform her paintings and sculptures.

Megan has worked in a wide variety of mediums including acrylic, assemblage, wood and linocut and pottery until she found her true voice in encaustic painting. Encaustic painting allows her to fully express this point of view through a combination of painting, carving and embedding objects in her work.
